One of the best places we stayed overseas. Beautiful old building with lots of common space we can relax (2 balconies, 4 couching areas, a kid’s playing place..). Dinner is amazing with a nice dining room. Garden is also nice to sit with wine. They don’t really speak English but you can manage with few Spanish words. Away from major attractions but surrounded nice paths, relatively close to the Cadi Moixeró NP for hiking. Breakfast can be improved. Most room doesn’t have private bathrooms but it shouldn’t be much problem as the shared bathroom is large and clean. Wifi is not so great so not recommended for mobile addicts.

We will not repeat

Weekend getaway. The setting is wonderful, the house beautiful and the views a 10. But the staff is unfriendly and unfriendly, far from making you feel at home, it seems to get in the way. The room was full of flies, half dead (couldn't they have cleaned it?). In short, it's a want and I can't. There are better options to disconnect in the mountain.

Peaceful nights, great food, beautiful mountain views

Thanks to Carles, our fabulous host, our party of five enjoyed three very comfortable nights at Falgars. Accommodations are simple but perfect for a hostal. We really enjoyed the generous meals made from quality local products. There is much to do in the immediate and surrounding areas: hiking, excellent birding, via ferrata, visiting the tiny villages nearby. The scenery is dramatic. We dream of returning to experience more.

Great for hikers,

We stayed here in March 2014 and again in June 2014. March was thick mist and June was glorious sunshine and it was great to see the country side in different seasons. It is open at weekends from March until the season kicks off properly in July when it is open all week until October and then again at weekends until the 8th December. Although termed a hostel the rooms are a good size, facilities good and the place very clean. The setting is fantastic and the historic building in a lovely location. Excellent value for money for breakfast and evening meal of home cooked Catalan food (evening meal includes a carafe of red wine). We go for the local walking, the national GR4 goes past the front door and there are many local tracks. These are all well marked and easy to follow, once you have worked out the system and there are enjoyable walks through woods and meadows with wild flowers and orchids. Although it is high enough and steep enough to get a bit of a lung burn but generally the walking is easy. You need a car for easily access but it is an easy drive up the C16 from Barcelona, do-able in under 2 hours. Carles is a very welcoming and helpful host and makes a stay very enjoyable stay. A great place which we intend to return to.

Mountain view

Fantastic views across the mountains await guests after a wonderful drive up the well maintained twisty road. There is total peace and quiet as Falgars is the only building on the top of the mountain. Carles is a delightfully friendly and hospitable host and made our group feel extremely welcome. The food was excellent and Carles couldn't have been more accommodating for a vegetarian. The rooms are generously sized and were very comfortable. The lounge areas and dining room were pleasant spaces to stay all evening. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and look forward to returning
