cozy and inside the medina

We stayed for 4 days and the truth is that it was great, it is a quiet place, very beautiful, and the breakfast is incredible. The location is perfect since it is within the Medina. It is inside an alley where there are several small shops and between one of them a small window where they sell sweets, bread, toiletries, etc. It is very well priced and you can also buy the card for your mobile phone and recharge. (it is the store that is closest to the riad). At the riad ASSIA you can change money and they also print (in case you have to get plane tickets).

As two ‘mature’ mates we used Riad Assia as a base for the week, hence two different views below.
Andy - Having used Booking to choose accommodation, Assia came top for location & needing two single rooms. The location was great being close to Jemma el Fna & pick up for four trips was only 100m away. The place is basic but typical of ‘guesthouse’ accommodation for travellers across the world. Their web shows single rooms to be very small, but we were allocated doubles with double beds & ensuites. Clean but a bit tiered & the lighting was very dim. TV with a couple of English speaking news channels, BBC World would have been a bonus. Breakfast was simple & served in the rooftop breakfast room. Ibtissam on reception (sometimes) was a real sweetie & very helpful. She walked around the corner where the airport taxi dropped us & also booked a return for 150DHM. Overall a great stay.
Geoff - The location for Riad Assia is very good regarding access to Jemaa el Fna although vehicular access is restricted to around 100 metres away. The staff at the reception desk were friendly enough especially the young girl and lad. My room, (204) was very basic having a homemade storage unit consisting of a rail with an assortment of plastic hangers, 2 shelves, (one storing a couple of extra blankets), and no doors. There were 2 bedside tables with no lamps and the room had no drawers for any storage. There was a tv, bathroom with shower, toilet and sink and I always had hot water; the floor throughout is laminated with no rugs. The overall condition is clean but very 'tired'. I would give it 1 star from 5 stars.

Room

Interesting location, but the ridiculous rooms, the half-broken shower the uncomfortable bed little decoration and very small bathroom, go get another hotel for future travelers, breakfast at a time still acceptable but on the balcony towards evening and more than 45 °, then the wifi very poor

Good

Good hotel convenient to the central square (3 minute walk). Small terrace on the top floor with tables/chairs and overlooking the city where you can have breakfast and where you can stop in the evening. Small but clean rooms and very friendly and helpful reception.

Not recommendable

Terrible cleaning, rooms for beggars, poor breakfast and on top of that they kick you out of the room at 8 in the morning on the last day, having to be out all day until flight time. If Marrakech is ugly, this “hotel” is even more
