I booked a room after not being able to book in one hotel. Going to the other hotel was a great substitute. Beautiful short drive.

Beautiful location and views — Hotel service with air up

We spent three wonderful days at Hotel Berghof and in the surrounding area. The room, with views of Lake Weissensee and the mountains, was very spacious with plenty of space. Beautiful view! The beds also offer a restful sleep for back sufferers. Swimming pool and sauna we looked at the first day, but did not manage to use. Therefore, we cannot afford to judge here. But it all looked very well maintained. The entire staff, from reception to restaurant service to cleaning staff, were very friendly, courteous and focused on the well-being of guests.
Is the house a bit old-fashioned. Monday & Tuesday there is no restaurant operation. This means that on these evenings, guests have no opportunity to have a drink at the hotel bar. On the other days, the hotel bar closes at 10:30 p.m., even if many guests still want a drink. Even more surprising: guests are not allowed to stay in the common room, drink their drink and play anything else. They have to go to their rooms at 10:30. It gives you a little bit of a schoolland home feeling as an adult.
In the hotel's own restaurant we ate on the first evening. The price-performance ratio is not right here. We found the dishes overpriced. Example: a chicken leg with mashed potatoes and red wine sauce (no side dishes) €18.80.
Breakfast is varied, and everyone will find something to suit their taste. Fresh eggs, food such as omelette or fried eggs cannot be ordered in the kitchen. There are only scrambled eggs in a warming device. We also missed soy or oat milk on the buffet. Only whole cow milk could be used here. This is no longer timely.
On the whole, we spent a nice break at Lake Weißensee. Compared to other hotels in the Allgäu, there is still some room for improvement at Hotel Bergruh to really be a four-star hotel.

Disappointment

After having visited 3 hotels on the romantic route classified 4 stars and a 3 star in Augsburg where we had very good services we were surprised when entering the room: small, old-fashioned, entrance door with key leaving something to be desired as to safety (visible screws). The television remote control did not work as did the trunk. The shower is a cabin with a rim, in short, very far from the services expected for a 4-star hotel. Well, nothing practical either.
The only good point is the view.... the rendering of the room in real life does not really correspond to the photos sold.

Price-performance ratio is not right

Unfortunately, the rather high prices do not match the services offered, so that you get more service for a comparable price in other hotels. The rooms have probably been largely renovated during the Corona period, but the overall impression of the hotel shows a certain lack of innovation. The spa area in particular was the same over 10 years ago. In our opinion, the breakfast leaves nothing to be desired and the service is very attentive.
The communicated target group "traveling with a dog" was also rather difficult for us...
NO, we won't be coming back!

Not necessarily a second time

The hotel staff, especially the receptionists and the facility management, were very friendly and accommodating. The view of the Weissensee is very beautiful and the surrounding area is also ideal for hiking or walking.
The hotel is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. This means no drinks service during the day on the terrace and in the house and no kitchen in the evening.
We found the kitchen in the evening to be pretty weak. It seems as if a chef with no experience was at work. Soup was very bland, schnitzel and pork fillet very dry. Simple dishes such as spaghetti or sausage cheese salad are not on the menu. Another negative was unfortunately the wellness area. All the saunas and the steam bath were not in use and therefore no guests were to be found in the lower area. Everything seems a bit lonely.
The dining area in the back area is very nice and very modern. Unfortunately we were only allowed to sit in the front area in the evening, which I personally cannot understand. Let the guests linger at the beautiful tables.
