On the vacation road

Atypical and original experience, old castle, period furniture, friendly welcome from the owner, possibility of visiting some rooms of the castle, perfect breakfast, in short excellent stopover which will leave us with good memories....

TOTAL DISGRACE TO FRANCE

BEWARE !
Turned up after booking with Booking.com. I travel the world with work and use this booking company on a near weekly basis. Shocked was not the word !
Overgrown grounds with outdoor furniture strewn across the garden entrance. Weeds two feet high flooded driveway with holes everywhere.
Not a sole to be found on arrival. Found a door and went in only to find a pitch black hallway with disconnected electricity. Shouted for help but no answer. Called the hotel number but no connection. Walked around looking for help but became apparent that the hotel had been abandoned.
Then I get charged for a no show !
TOTAL BANDITS UTTER SCAM.
AVOID AT ALL COST.
Disgrace to the Hôtel industry and booking sites.

Take the chance

I found this place on booking.com. I was surprised by the price as it was the same as a cheap B&B Hotel in Calais. Breakfast was also included. Amazing place, spiral stone staircase, suits of armour, rooms with character, lake with rowing boat, indoor swimming pool. A real experience.

Wonderful Host

We found this 500 year old Chateau by chance while trying to get "off the beaten track"
In the south west of Central France it is a terrific way to discover rural France
The accommodation is exactly what you would expect with spiral staircase, suits of armour, huge public rooms and a perfect host. All this while still offering comfortable bedrooms and even a lift for suitcases!
Gerard, our host, couldn't do enough for us, even recommending a very good restaurant in Aubusson itself for dinner.
So glad we found this little bit of France

Nicht empfehlenswert

Trotz der schönen Location bleibt hier nur eine negative Bewertung. Das Chateau ist nicht nur in die Jahre gekommen, sondern gänzlich ungepflegt. Spinnweben in Schränken und an allen Lampen. Die Lampen sind z. T. defekt wie auch Rauchmelder, die nicht an der Decke hängen, sondern in Schubladen liegen. Es mangelt an Handtüchern und Toilettenpapier, die Ausstattung des Festsaals ist hygienisch auch "schwierig". Roomservice? Nicht vorhanden... Das Schlimmste ist aber der Eigentümer, der unhöflich und unzuverlässig ist.
